The 26 year old has looked fairly woeful when called upon this term though a fair amount of responsibility for that lies with former boss David Moyes whose attempts to convert the Belgian into a holding midfielder failed miserably.
Gunners boss Wenger was in the race to sign Fellaini last summer but Man United’s £27.5m bid was enough to see the north London club back off but a smaller fee may now be required to persuade the Old Trafford side to sell the former Toffees man.
It’s hard to see quite how Fellaini would work within Wenger’s side though he is perhaps seen as a potential replacement for Spanish veteran Mikel Arteta but then that would require the Man United man improving in the role.
Clearly Arsenal posses enough forward thinking midfielders so Fellaini’s usefulness in that regard is hard to fathom.
Fellaini caused defences a real handful whilst at Everton but in his deeper role at Man United has cut a fairly sad ineffective figure in the centre of the park.
