Chelsea are ready to use Tottenham’s apparent interest in striker Romelu Lukaku to aid their move to capture Brazilian midfielder Paulinho according to the Independent.

Belgian international Lukaku has once again shone out on loan and may not feel he has a future at Stamford Bridge and a move across London may tempt the 20 year old and the forward’s agent Christophe Henrotay has confirmed interest from the White Hart Lane side, stating;

“I’m looking for a club for Romelu. And yes, I’ve talked to Daniel Levy once, but that doesn’t mean Romelu will definitely join Spurs. That’s not a talking point at this moment”

Lukaku scored 17 Premier League goals during his season long spell at West Brom and has racked up 14 top tier goals thus far for Everton this term, more than proven his ability to make an impact at the highest level.

Even though Chelsea’s current crop of strikers have failed miserably it seems Jose Mourinho is ready to sacrifice Lukaku in his pursuit of Paulinho, and it’s a deal Tottenham may be tempted by given their own lack of effective attacking options.

Having spent over £50m to bring in Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado from AS Roma and Valencia Daniel Levy may be reticent about spending big on fresh options and a move to bring in Lukaku in a swap deal could well be a financially beneficial option to consider.
