Pochettino has reportedly been at the top of Tottenham’s wish list alongside Ajax coach Frank De Boer ever since they decided not to extend Tim Sherwood’s short term deal at the end of the season.

The Argentine has guided Southampton to a record Premier League points haul this season, but refused to shed any light on his plans beyond the end of the term.

“I am not one to talk about my own personal situation,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by The Telegraph. “I do not like to talk about my own contract situation.

“I am just focused on being manager of this team and doing what is best for this team.

Pochettino’s future has been the subject of much speculation ever since chairman Nicola Cortese stepped down from his position in January.

Cortese was a huge ally of Pochettino, but he has insisted that all talk surrounding his future will have to wait until the end of the season.

“I am focused completely on this competition. I understand all the rumours surrounding me and the future of the players, but these things will be spoken about at the end of the season,” he added.
