The popular stopper has been with the club since 2006, and has been a key member of the side for the majority of that time, though he has recently fallen out of favour under Brendan Rodgers this season.

Agger was left on the bench for Monday’s draw with Crystal Palace, with the Reds boss neglecting even to bring him on when defending a lead, with Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho clearly struggling.

The 29-year-old has subsequently been linked with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season, and they have seemingly now been given a clear run at him as the Reds look set to allow him to move on for a cut priced fee.

Despite maintaining a claim for the Premier League title, Rodgers’ men have the worst defensive record in the top five and the manager will be looking to revamp his side over the summer in order to take their challenge all the way next season.
