Man United are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign long term target Fabio Coentrao with Old Trafford officials set to meet representatives of the Real Madrid wing-back according to Football Direct News.

Though the 26 year old Portuguese international has impressed Carlo Ancelotti in patches this term the former Benfica man is still playing second fiddle to Marcelo and as such may well be keen to leave the Bernabeu and a move to Man United may well tempt Coentrao.
Incoming Man United boss Louis van Gaal seemingly wants the attack minded wide-man to replace Patrice Evra, with the French veteran set to leave the club when his contract expires in a matter of weeks.
Dutch back-up Alexander Buttner may have hoped that the arrival of his national team coach would aid his push to act as a long term replacement for Evra but that doesn’t appear likely.
Coentrao came close to moving to Man United in the summer but a deadline day loan swoop failed but a fresh move this summer seems on the cards.
