Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has made no secret about his desire to add more attacking options to his side after being accused on several occasions of being goal shy.

Club-record signing Andy Carroll missed the first half of the season with a heel injury and Allardyce was forced to play some games without a striker.

However, with the side securing their Premier League status for another year, Allardyce has made the Benfica pair his prime transfer targets after sending club scouts to see them in action against Vitoria Setubal this weekend.

Paraguay international Cardozo, 30, is rated one of the best forwards in Portugal and has scored 68 goals in 116 games since his move to the Lisbon giants back in 2007.

Rodrigo, who has already scored 14 goals in 29 games this season, has been on the radar of several clubs this summer after an impressive season of his own.
