Liverpool Must Keep Luis Suarez At All Costs, Says Steven Gerrard

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard declares Luis Suarez irreplaceable to the Anfield club and says Reds must ignore all transfer rumours around the Uruguayan this summer.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard believes that the Reds are lucky to have an incredible talent like Luis Suarez playing for the club at the moment.

The 33-year old Liverpool skipper hailed the Uruguayan as by far the best player he has ever played with and reiterated the invaluable contribution that the 27-year old has made to the club’s cause this season.

Gerrard also stated that Liverpool could be onto bigger things if Suarez stayed on at the club for a few more years, and subtly hinted to the Reds’ hierarchy to do all in its power to keep the star striker happy at the club.

Liverpool may have lost a golden chance to win the league title for the first time in 24 years, but Gerrard believes that there could be bigger things in store for the club if their goal-machine continues to fire away in the coming years.

“There is some disappointment looming around but if this fella stays around for a few more years I think there will be some really big nights,” the 33 year-old told ESPN.

“Luis seems to be cleaning up at the moment, he’s won everything, and we are lucky to have such a world-class talent like Luis playing here with us and helping us to great things and be successful.

“He is out there by a big distance [as the best player I have played with] and that is no disrespect to all the players I’ve played with, there has been some top talent for club and country, but this fella can do the lot, he is different to most footballers.”
