Premier League giants Liverpool have moved into pole position in the race to sign brilliant Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan for next season, according to reports on Footy Latest.

The in-demand Argentina international has once again enjoyed yet another fine campaign at the heart of the Portuguese champions’ midfield, so much so that another of big-name clubs from across the Continent are understood to have been keeping close tabs on Gaitan of late.
In fact, it is believed that the likes of both Premier League side Arsenal and Serie A champions Juventus have also expressed an interest in the 26-year-old, who has so far managed to register an impressive seven goals and 10 assists in total in his 40 matches in all competitions for Benfica, including four strikes and five assists in his 26 league outings for the club.
And with a contract at the Estadio Da Luz that currently runs until June 2016, the Merseysiders are believed to be confident of reaching an agreement with their Portuguese rivals for the player before this summer’s Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil get under way in June.
