Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger says that he has already resigned himself to losing experienced right-back Bacary Sagna at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The France international’s current deal with the north London club runs out at the end of June and despite the two parties having been locked together in face-to-face negotiations for well over a year now, there has still to be any agreement reached about extending Sagna’s seven-year stay at the Emirates.

And so now it appears a virtual certainty that Sagna will quit the club on a lucrative Bosman-style free transfer when the summer transfer window reopens for business later this summer, with both Premier League champions-elect Manchester City and mega-rich Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain understood to be preparing big-money contract offers for the 31-year-old to join them next season.

“That (Sagna) is not close to be closed,” confirmed Wenger.

“I will have to accept it because only he can decide that now. If he goes we will accept it, we will accept it and respond.”
