Chelsea are ready to make what they hope will be a tempting enough offer to convince Sevilla to sell their prized asset Ivan Rakitic.

Football Direct News claims that the west London side will offer the La Liga side a cash sum plus the services of German winger Marko Marin, who is currently on loan at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

A number of sides are said to be keen on Rakitic, who has been in excellent form this term, becoming a veritable assist-making machine in both domestic and Europa League action.

The 25 year old Croatian international playmaker has racked up 13 assists as well as 15 goals in all competitions and will no doubt play a prominent role at the World Cup finals this summer.

One would have thought that Jose Mourinho had enough creative midfielders in his Chelsea armoury but could perhaps be looking to offload one or two as he seeks to put his stamp on his Stamford Bridge squad.

A permanent move to Spain may well tempt Marin, who has managed to get his career back on track after a period of stagnation on the Chelsea bench.
