Chelsea have met the buyout clause in Atletico Madrid front man Diego Costa’s contract at the Vicente Calderon and are now free to open talks with the Brazil-born front man, according to report in the Daily Star.

The newly capped Spain international is currently enjoying a highly prolific campaign in front of goal for the La Liga leaders, with Costa having so far managed to find the back of the net on 27 occasions in his 34 La Liga outings.
And now it appears as though the west London club are set to lure Costa to Stamford Bridge this summer after Chelsea met the full value of his £32m buyout clause in his current deal in the Spanish capital, that runs until June 2018, with the striker also set to triple his present salary at Atletico up to a whopping £150,000 per week.
Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho has wanted to get this big-money deal done as soon as possible, with the self-styled Special One understood to be particularly determined to have signed Costa before the start of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, which now gets under way in less than a month’s time.
