Argentine strongly linked with move to re-sign for Anfield side.
Liverpool appear to be moving closer to re-signing Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano with the Daily Mirror claiming that such a deal could cost the Anfield side as little as £9m.
The 29 year old has just a year to run on his current Nou Camp contract and could be part of a squad overhaul at the Catalan club and is keen on a move back to Merseyside.

The Argentine’s agent has been in talks with Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers would do well to bring in the experienced performer who could be a great asset as the club returns to Champions League action.
The fact that Mascherano can be used as both a defensive midfielder or indeed as a centre-back, a role he regularly performs in with Barcelona, will surely make such a move one that Rodgers would be likely to push on with.
Mascherano is very much still a player Liverpool fans fondly recall and given that Rodgers possesses just one out and out defensive midfielder, Lucas Leiva, would offer further reason to make a move for the Barcelona man.
In his previous spell at the club Mascherano made 139 appearances for Liverpool, helping the club to a runners-up finish in both the Premier League and Champions League in the process.
