The England international, who was named as part of Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil on Monday, only has a contract with the Blues that runs until the end of June.

However, it is understood that the self-styled Special One is keen for Lampard to be handed a 12-month extension on that deal to keep the player at the club going into next season, despite the fact that the 35-year-old played a far less prominent role for the Portuguese last time out.

But is believed that Mou still greatly values Lampard’s big-game experience, with the goalscoring midfielder having featured in 40 matches in total in the previous campaign in all competitions, 26 of which came in the Premier League, with the Chelsea legend managing to register a useful seven goals and six assists for the team cause along the way.
