Check in to England vs Italy

Fabio Borini will make his first appearance for Liverpool in almost a year tonight.

The 23-year-old, who recently returned from a season-long loan at Sunderland, is expected to feature for the Reds in their friendly against Shamrock Rovers at the Aviva Stadium.

Liverpool spent over £10m on Borini when they signed him from Roma in July 2012.

He has scored just one goal in 13 Premier League appearances for the Reds, but he netted seven times in 32 top-flight outings for Sunderland.

Borini is joined in the squad for tonight’s game in Dublin by Daniel Agger, Joe Allen, Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Leiva, Martin Skrtel, Martin Kelly and Iago Aspas.

However, the likes of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling are all rested, as they prepare for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Kick off at the Aviva Stadium is at 5.30pm BST.

Shamrock have won the League of Ireland 17 times, but they have not been national champions since 2011.

Their team is made up entirely of Irish players, including forward Eamon Zayed, who has represented Libya at international level despite being born in Dublin.

Liverpool squad for Dublin trip: Agger, Allen, Aspas, Borini, Brannagan, Coady, Coutinho, Dunn, Ibe, Jones, Kelly, Lussey, McLaughlin, Paez, Peterson, Lucas, Randall, Skrtel, Smith, Trickett Smith, Teixeira, Ward, Williams.
