Having seen his Anfield side leak goals aplenty this season Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on a pair of Swansea City defensive talents to help shore up his Liverpool back-line according to Football Direct News.

Rodgers will look to lure left-back Ben Davies from his former club as he seeks to bring in a long term replacement for crocked Spaniard Jose Enrique.

Though youngster John Flanagan has greatly impressed in the left-sided defensive role he is perhaps seen as being better suited to a right-back berth, and as such a move for Welsh international Davies is a wise one to consider.

In order to boost his complement of central defenders Rodgers is tracking Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams who has long been an Arsenal target.

With Kolo Toure looking way off the pace and error prone when called upon this season it’s clear that Rodgers could do with alternatives at the back.

Williams is an experienced campaigner though one would have to wonder about his ability to make a mark at the highest level.

Martin Skrtel has been a reliable performer this term though summer signing Mamadou Sakho and Dane Daniel Agger have been less dependable.
