Keeper is contracted to the Blues until 2016.

Chelsea may be forced to sell or loan out goalkeeper Petr Cech next season if the experienced Czech Republic international refuses to accept his new role as the west London club’s No 2 behind Thibaut Courtois, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.

The Blues have now decided to recall their young Belgium international from his most recent season-long loan spell with La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid, with Courtois now in line to begin next season as the club’s first-choice keeper.

However, Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho is still desperate for Cech to remain at Stamford Bridge and act as Courtois’s backup once the 31-year-old has made a successful recovery from the dislocated shoulder he sustained against Atleti in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final last month.

But with Cech expecting to be back in action within eight to ten weeks, the club are now set to be faced with a real problem if the shot stopper does as expected ask to leave the capital this summer.

It is understood, though, that Mourinho will demand a fee of £10m for the player.
