The Belgian international has spent the season on loan with the Merseysiders, bagging 16 goals in 33 appearances, but he has now made his way back to west London with his future still uncertain.

And Lukaku will be a tough player to replace, though Everton are said to have targeted the Swansea frontman as the ideal candidate to take over from where he left off.

The 25-year-old only joined the Welsh club last summer in a £12m move from Eredivise side Vitesse Arnhem, and after a slow start to life in the Premier League he managed to grab himself 26 goals, including five in the Europa League – a competition that Everton have qualified for next season.

Bony himself has stated he is happy at the Liberty Stadium but admits if a ‘big club’ came calling he could be tempted to move.

He will also be taking part in this summer’s World Cup after being selected by the Cote d’Ivoire.
