Arsenal Targeting Ligue 1 Right Back To Replace Bacary Sagna

Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has identified highly rated Toulouse right-back Serge Aurier as being the man he wants to take over from the departing Bacary Sagna at the Emirates next season, according to reports in the Sunday Express.

The France international has reportedly now played his final ever game for the north London club following Saturday’s dramatic come from behind FA Cup final win over underdogs Hull City at Wembley Stadium.

And with the 31-year-old now destined to move to Premier League champions Manchester City on a lucrative free transfer when the summer transfer window reopens for business, the experienced French coach has been busy scouring the market on the Continent of late to try and find a suitable replacement for Sagna, who has been with the Gunners now for the past seven years.

And the player that Wenger has identified is believed to be Toulouse’s Ivory Coast international, with the 21-year-old heading to this summer’s Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil with his country.

Aurier, 21, is contracted to the Ligue 1 outfit until June 2018 and so is expected to cost the north London club £7m.
