Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at the La Liga side and has grown found the city and the club and he said earlier this week that he had ‘no emotional connection’ to his parent club.

And now Marin has apparently told club officials that the player has told he that he no longer wants to return to west London over the summer.

The Blues signed up the 22-year-old from Racing Genk in his homeland back in 2011, but he has yet to make a single appearance for the club.

And the news could cause alarm for Jose Mourinho, who could start the new season without a first choice goalkeeper as a shoulder injury threatens to keep him out for the opening weeks of the new campaign.

But Marin revealed that the Chelsea star made his intentions known to them after them before the defeat to their local rivals in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

He said: “Courtois wants to stay and he’s told the directors that.

“But it all depends on him and Chelsea have an injured goalkeeper.”
