Check in to England vs Italy

Relegated Welsh side Cardiff City have completed the signing of Man United youngster Federico Macheda according to the club’s official website.

The 22 year old Italian will move to the Championship side on July 1st on a free transfer following the expiry of his Old Trafford contract and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope the forward can assist Cardiff City in their pursuit of an instant return to the top tier.

Macheda burst onto the scene with an injury time winner against Aston Villa in 2009 on his debut but failed to make a consistent impact at Man United and has spent much of the last five years out on loan.

The Man United man netted ten goals in 18 appearances during a temporary move to Birmingham City last season and will hope to secure the regular first team football he needs in order to re-ignite his career.

Macheda becomes Solskjaer’s third signing of the summer, with the Bluebirds having already recruited Spanish striker Javi Guerra, 32, and Austrian midfielder Guido Burgstaller, 25.

Macheda made a total of 36 appearances for Man United, of which 21 were from the bench, and netted five goals.
