The 33-year-old helped Atletico win their first Spanish league title in 18 years this season before coming to within two minutes of defeating city rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday, which they eventually lost 4-1 after extra time.

Tiago is out of contract at the Vicente Calderon at the end of the month, and following the defeat in Lisbon he has admitted that a decision must be made over his future soon.

And according to reports in Spain, the former Portuguese international is keen on making a return to the west London outfit, where he lifted the Premier League title under Mourinho back in the 2004/05 season.

Since then he has turned out for some of the biggest sides in Europe, including Lyon and Juventus.

Tiago was the subject of several big-money approaches from English and Turkish sides last summer but decided to stay with Los Rojiblancos.
