Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring in long term target Alvaro Morata with Real Madrid leaning towards accepting an offer from the north London club according to Football Direct News.

Juventus had thought to also be in the running to bring in the Spanish youngster but comments made by Bernabeu president Florentino Perez certainly give weight to the suggestion that the 21 year old striker could be on his way to the Emirates Stadium, stating;

“I have to talk to the coach and Morata to see what is best for everyone.”

Adding that Real Madrid were buoyed by Arsenal’s proposed deal, which could replicate a similar deal that saw Daniel Carvajal join Bayer Leverkusen and return to the club as an established first teamer.

“For example, what we did with Dani Carvajal was very positive, he left to play. For us, if we sell someone it is to play, but the best place to do is Madrid.”

A move to the Premier League would initially be a loan spell for a season but would offer Arsenal the option of buying the forward on an outright basis.

Morata is considered one of the hottest prospects in Spanish football but a lack of first team action has led to the player considering his options. Last term the lethal finisher made just six starts in all competitions but still managed to notch up nine goals.

Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in players to boost an attack that currently overly relies on Frenchman Olivier Giroud.
