Vicente Calderon stars set for Stamford Bridge switch.
Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Atletico Madrid trio Diego Costa, Felipe Luis and Tiago according to The Times.
The outstanding efforts of the Vicente Calderon stars have clearly not gone unnoticed by Blues boss Jose Mourinho who has reportedly already agreed terms on a deal to re-sign midfielder Tiago, who’s Atletico Madrid contract is set to expire in a matter of weeks.
The Stamford Bridge side will hope that £35m forward Costa will boost the club’s ailing attack with the 36 goal striker set to lead the Chelsea line.
The last of those 36 goals in 2013/14 came against Chelsea in the the Champions League semi-final encounter between the two sides and Costa will surely be a better fit to spearhead the Premier League side’s front-line than Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba who all failed to deliver the goods on a consistent enough basis last season.
Brazilian Felipe Luis will cost Chelsea £15m and the 28 year old is seen as a long term replacement for Ashley Cole, with the left-back set to leave the club for pastures new.
If Chelsea can bring in this trio for £50m then they will have done well and they can look to use the £40m made from the sale of David Luiz to PSG to help fund such a move.
