Eliaquim Mangala doesn’t want a summer transfer distracting him from his World Cup ambitions…
Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala has decided to divert his attention away from all transfer speculation and instead wants to stay focused on France’s World Cup campaign. The 23-year old is a highly sought after defender in Europe with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona all said to be vying for his signature, reports the Daily Star.
The centre-back is rated above £30m but the hefty price tag will not deter Europe’s heavyweights, who are willing to splash the cash to land quality reinforcements. Mangala though insists that he has more pressing matters on his mind to address before thinking of a summer transfer.
Speaking about his commitment towards France’s cause for the World Cup, the former Standard Liege starlet was quoted saying, “My manager told me nothing. On a transfer, we will see after the World Cup. I go on holiday after the World Cup, then start working at FC Porto and see what will turn up. The market at the moment, I do not care.”
Mangala has just 2 caps for the French national side, but is widely regarded as one of the best young defensive prospects in the world. His athleticism and decision making have won him several admirers and one reckons that he is destined for a future at one of Europe’s finest sides soon.
