The 27 year old enjoyed a successful season on loan at Newcastle United last season and despite his Loftus Road side having secure a return to the Premier League it seems unlikely he will return to QPR this summer.

Arsene Wenger has long been linked with the former Marseille man and has moved in to pole position in pursuit of the forward, who netted 14 goals in 24 Premier League starts last term.

Arsenal will pay around £10m for Remy who’s form has led to a prominent role in Didier Deschamps’ 2014 World Cup finals squad.

In a recent World Cup warm-up Remy combined well with Arsenal star Olivier Giroud and this may well have led to a renewed push from Wenger to get the deal done before the finals begin on June 12th perhaps mindful that a good showing in Brazil may lead to growing interest in the QPR man.

Wenger is keen to strengthen an attack that overly relied upon Giroud last term, not least as the Arsenal manager appears to prefer using Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski in wide-attacking options.

This meant that last term the only back-up alternatives to Giroud last term came in the form of youngster Yaya Sanogo and soon to be out of contract Dane Nicklas Bendtner.
