Liverpool are being strongly linked with a move to sign Valencia midfielder Seydou Keita who now looks likely to leave the Mestalla after turning down the offer of a new contract according to the Metro.

The 34 year old Mali international is now a free agent and Brendan Rodgers’s push to bring in Southampton forward Rickie Lambert is a sign that whilst the Anfield boss does on the whole have a youthful transfer policy he is also keen to bring in experienced individuals.

Rodgers attempted to bring in Keita in January but the former Barcelona was concerned he’d wouldn’t see much action but now that Liverpool have secured a return to the Champions League he may well be open to a move to the Merseyside club.

Brendan Rodgers is ready to adopt the use of squad rotation to help cope with the demands for success on multiple fronts and Keita would be a sensible player to bring in.

Seydou Keita has racked up over 500 appearances during his spells in France and Spain and won a host of honours during his four season spell at the Nou Camp during which time he helped the Catalan club to three La Liga titles and two Champions League triumphs.
