Tottenham are lining up a bid for Man United striker Javier Hernandez according to Football Direct News.

The north London side attempted to sign the Mexican international last season but with Mauricio Pochettino looking to secure fresh attacking options Spurs will re-ignite the push to capture the 26 year old.

With both Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela failing to impress in their debut seasons chairman Daniel Levy will be all too aware of Pochettino’s likely need to invest in a summer signing to address the problem.

Hernandez has a healthy strike rate when called upon by Man United though his total of just four Premier League starts last term was an indication of just how low down the club’s pecking order he now is with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck ahead of Chicharito.

The Man United man has racked up 59 goals in 152 appearances, of which 69 were from the bench, a goal tally that makes him a much sought after property.

Incoming boss Louis van Gaal may well look to add to his complement of strikers which would be further hasten Hernandez’s Old Trafford exit.
