Arsenal are surprisingly being linked with a move to sign experienced Chelsea keeper Petr Cech by Italian source TuttoMercato.

There have been countless reports of Arsene Wenger targeting a back-up option who can ably challenge first choice starter Wojciech Szczesny but one imagines that Cech would not only do just that but would arguably oust the Pole from the Gunners starting eleven.

The likes of Michel Vorm and Willy Caballero were seemingly seen as replacements for Swansea City bound Lukasz Fabianski and a move for a keeper of Cech’s quality is a tad surprising.

Jose Mourinho may look to welcome in Thibaut Courtois from his three year long loan spell at Atletico Madrid and that would clearly leave Cech considering his options.

The long serving Czech Republic international, who at 32 is by no means ‘over the hill’ in goalkeeping terms, considering whether he feels such a move would undermine his role at Chelsea or rather see it as a challenge he would be happy to undertake.

Cech has just completed his tenth season at the west London club and has racked up 470 appearances in the process.
