Sunderland are set to make a £10m offer for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini according to The Chronicle.

Black Cats boss Gus Poyet was always likely to look to make the temporary move for the Italian a permanent one after his successful loan spell last term and having seen Liverpool sign Rickie Lambert the 23 year old will probably be ready to bid farewell to Anfield this summer.

Borini netted ten goals in all competitions last term and his form in the latter stages of the campaign was vital to the Stadium of Light’s great escape, he also put in some top displays to help Sunderland to the Capital One Cup final.

Brendan Rodgers paid £12m for Borini a year ago and as such a £10m bid may well be accepted by the Merseyside club as they look to balance the books ahead of further summer moves.

Liverpool may also look to offload fellow attackers Iago Aspas and Oussama Assaidi with both players looking surplus to requirements.
