West Ham are today being linked with a shock move to welcome veteran forward Emile Heskey back to the Premier League according to Football Direct News.

Upton Park boss Sam Allardyce is keen on bringing the 36 year old to the east London side to act as a back-up option for front-man Andy Carroll who has spent a fair bit of time out injured since moving joining the Hammers.

The 36 year old has completed two seasons in the A-League with the Newcastle Jets and is a player who may well jump at the chance of a return to the English top tier.

Prior to his move to Australia Heskey enjoyed a successful career in English football scoring 147 goals in 696 appearances, representing Leicester City, Liverpool, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa.

Heskey also racked up 62 national team caps, scoring seven goals in the process.
