Arsenal are being strongly linked with a move for St. Etienne shot-stopper Stephane Ruffier, reports the Daily Star.

The 27-year old Frenchman is also being targeted by the likes of AC Milan and AS Roma, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger seems to be the most keen to snap up Ruffier, who has been asked to sort out his future before the end of this month.

St. Etienne are reportedly open to selling the goalie, but only if he leaves before the start of July, which would then give the Ligue 1 side enough time to sign an apt replacement. Arsenal are short of keepers at the moment after the departure of Polish international Lukasz Fabianski to Swansea City earlier in the summer, and must definitely add a stopper to act as backup to first-choice Wojciech Szczesny – who Arsene Wenger will trust with the no.1 jersey.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for Iker Casillas, Willy Caballero and David Ospine in the past – but a move for a keeper who would perhaps be more happy to start from the bench would be more sensible.

Ruffier was an ever-present for St. Etienne last term, and has won two caps for the French national side as well.
