Sevilla skipper Ivan Rakitic, who has long been a transfer target for Liverpool and Manchester United, now has offers from bigger fish in Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, reports the Express.
Rakitic shone last term, helping his side win the Europa League with a series of barnstorming displays in central midfield.
The Spanish giants are impressed with the Croat’s commanding displays in midfield for Sevilla that were vital to the club’s success in the Europa League last season, and are poised to challenge the English clubs for his signature.
The 26-year old midfielder can play in a deep lying role as well as an advanced role in midfield, and he struck an impressive 15 goals from midfield for Sevilla this past term in all competitions – reaching double figures for assists as well.
Both Man United and Liverpool are in search of a midfielder of the mould of Rakitic, but the experienced midfielder might want to climb up the ladder within La Liga, where he has managed to make a name for himself.
Rakitic will be one of the leading members of the Croatian side at the World Cup this month since his experience worth 61 national team appearances would be vital to the nation’s cause in Brazil.
