Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has had the Italian at the top of his summer wish list for some time now as he continues to look for attacking players to help boost his front line.

And Wenger has told his scouts to keep a close eye on the 23-year-old, who is likely to play a key role in the Italy squad that will face England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Brazil.

And should he make a positive impression the Frenchman will table a £17m offer for the player, with Wenger confident that the fee should be more than enough to land his signature.

Insigne has been watched several times by Arsenal’s scouting staff this term and Wenger has frequently been handed glowing reports of his abilities every time.

Napoli are thought to be open to offers as they look to raise cash to put other deals in motion, and thus may be tempted by Arsenal’s offer.
