Spain frontman’s arrival to make current strikers surplus to requirements.

Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa’s £32m move to Chelsea FC is expected to be announced imminently.

The 25-year-old goal machine, who netted 27 times in 35 La Liga games this season, completed a medical with the Blues on Wednesday.

Costa’s arrival to Stamford Bridge will spark Chelsea exits for Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, according to the Daily Star.

Torres has two years left to run on his current contract, but does not feature in manager Jose Mourinho’s long-term plans.

The 30-year-old is apparently wanted by Valencia, who are also keen on Manchester United frontman Javier Hernandez.

Meanwhile, Ba, 29, is the top target of Turkish club Besiktas.

Besiktas board member Deniz Atalay is quoted as saying: “We have been linked with a lot of players, but the only player we are interested in right now is Demba Ba.”

Ba also has two years remaining on his current Chelsea deal.

Torres and Ba each scored five Premier League goals last season.

Belgian winger Eden Hazard was the club’s topscorer with 14, followed by Samuel Eto’o, who has since been released, on nine.

Oscar and Andre Schurrle both netted eight times in the league, while England midfielder Frank Lampard, who has also been released, bagged six.

Didier Drogba was the last player to score 20 goals or more in a league season for Chelsea – hitting the net 29 times in the 2009-10 campaign.
