Check in to Belgium vs Algeria

Chelsea could be dealt the blow of losing exciting young striker Romelu Lukaku this summer, with the Daily Telegraph reporting that the Belgian is looking for an exit from the club.

The 21-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in European football at the moment, having attracted serious attention from several top clubs after two impressive seasons out on loan, first with West Bromwich Albion and then with Everton.

Although Lukaku has only made ten Premier League appearances for Chelsea’s first-team, he has staked his claim for a starting spot with his prolific form away from the club, with a record of 33 goals over the last two seasons.

However, his path to a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s side may now be blocked further by the arrival of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish star reportedly close to sealing a £32m move to Stamford Bridge.

With the likes of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba already providing serious competition for places at the club, Lukaku now appears to be growing increasingly frustrated with life at Chelsea, and has now informed the club of his desire to leave this summer.

The former Anderlecht man, who is being looked at by the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur, said: “You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker. I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going, ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?’

“But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage, I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view.”
