Respected BBC Journalist Claims Liverpool Are Heavily Interested In World-Class Barcelona Ace

Alexis Sanchez is a big target for Liverpool…

BBC journalist Ben Smith claims that Liverpool want to sign Barcelona’s Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez…

Smith tweeted this message in response to a fan’s question earlier today.

As the journalist states though, a potential transfer for the excellent 25-year-old relies entirely on Barcelona being willing to part ways with their South American wing-forward.

It was previously thought that Sanchez would stay with Barcelona this summer, with the player himself coming out and declaring his future to the Catalan giants.  However, in recent days reports that Manchester United were set to open talks over a potential £20m transfer have emerged, and it appears that Liverpool are also chasing the South American as well.

Sanchez notched 19 goals in La Liga last season, and relished the added responsibility he was given in the occasional absence of superstar Lionel Messi.

It’s no wonder that Liverpool are after him, and he would provide Brendan Rodgers’ outfit with genuine pace, class and goals in the final third ahead of next term’s Champions League campaign.

In terms of natural wingers, Liverpool only really have Raheem Sterling capable of performing at a good enough level for a side hoping to compete for silverware – and Sanchez would undoubtedly enable Rodgers to sometimes deploy two wingers instead of the diamond formation he often used last term.
