In a report spotted on the always excellent Sport Witness is appears that the San Siro side, who axed Clarence Seedorf yesterday and replaced the Dutchman with former striker Filippo Inzaghi, are very keen on welcoming Santon back to Milan.

The 23 year old spent six years at Inter Milan before moving to St James’ Park in August 2011 and is a player Alan Pardew isn’t likely to want to lose this summer.

However a swap deal that would see highly rated French Under 21 international youngster M’Baye Niang and experienced Guinea international defender Kevin Constant may be tough to ignore.

Santon has made 93 appearances for Newcastle United and could be tempted by a return to Milan and clearly owner Mike Ashley is not averse to cashing in on players and as such Pardew may be powerless to prevent another of his top talents leaving.

A move to AC Milan could well aid Santon’s push to add to his current tally of nine national team caps.
