Poor old Arsenal fans… First their former captain joins one of their closest rivals, then their favourite player of all time congratulates him on the move.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry sent a public message to Cesc Fabregas after his old Gunners teammate completed his transfer from Barcelona to Chelsea.
Fabregas joined the Blues for undisclosed fee on Thursday, penning a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
It is understood that Arsenal had an opportunity to re-sign the 27-year-old, but manager Arsene Wenger decided against doing so.
Fabregas made his Gunners debut as a teenager in 2003 and he went on to play over 300 games for the North London club, before leaving for Barca in a £30m switch in 2011.
Henry is Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer, having hit the net 228 times.
The Frenchman, who will work for BBC Sport as a pundit during the World Cup, tweeted the below shortly after Fabregas was confirmed as a Chelsea player.
Congrats Cescky. Shame it wasn’t the red part of North London but I wish you the best
