Sport Witness report on the claims made by the Spanish source with Atletico Madrid only willing to sell the 28 year old Brazilian if his €25m (£19.9m) release clause is triggered.

Mourinho is no doubt looking to bring in Luis to act as a replacement for veteran Ashley Cole with the Chelsea manager likely to switch Cesar Azpilicueta to his more preferred role at right-back having impressed in the left-back berth last season.

Luis had a stand-out campaign at the Vicente Calderon last season, playing a pivotal role in Diego Simeone’s triumphant season that saw Atletico Madrid secure a surprise La Liga crown as well as an impressive run to the Champions League final.

Luis has spent four seasons at Atletico Madrid and may feel the time is right for a new challenge and will no doubt be handed a massive pay-rise if he does move to west London.
