The wife of Croatia defender Dejan Lovren took to Instagram to express her disgust at the referee’s decision to award a penalty against her husband during his side’s opening day clash with hosts Brazil.
Anita Lovren, whose husband plays in England for Southampton, posted a mocked-up image of referee Yuichi Nishimura in a Brazil shirt, and also another showing how Ivica Olic’s arm did not get in the way of Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar when Croatia were denied a good goalscoring chance towards the end of the match.
Nishimura’s decisions were met with extensive criticism, with may calling for him not to take another game at the tournament.
