Check in to Cameroon vs Croatia

Real Madrid look set to step up their interest in signing highly-rated Inter Milan youngster Mateo Kovacic, according to Fichajes.com.

The 20-year-old caught the eye for Croatia in their opening game against Brazil in the World Cup on Thursday evening, and has been tracked by the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in the past as he continues to earn a great reputation.

Widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in Europe, Kovacic could be set for a move to a bigger club in the near future, though he is still not quite a regular for Inter, making just fourteen starts in 2013/14, with most of his appearances coming from the bench.

Still, the classy midfield playmaker managed four assists for Walter Mazzarri’s side and could now be in the sights of Real Madrid as they prepare to strengthen for next season.

The Spanish giants are not always known for handing many opportunities to young players, though they have moved to snap up some of the most exciting young talents in recent times, bringing in Spanish starlet Isco from Malaga last summer.

Kovacic could welcome the chance to play at the Bernabeu and learn from his fellow countryman Luka Modric and the many other world class names at the club.
