Check in to Spain vs Chile

Barcelona and Spain midfielder Xavi admits he has not yet made a decision about whether or not to stay at the Nou Camp next season, according to Marca.

The 34-year-old, speaking just hours before reigning world champions Spain were on the end of a shock 5-1 defeat to Netherlands in their opening World Cup game, has been linked with a big-money move to Qatar in recent months and is yet to commit his future to Barca.

Having spent his entire career with the Catalan giants so far, Xavi has become one of the most decorated players of his generation with a superb haul of honours in what has been one of the most successful periods of the club’s history.

However, with Barcelona just suffering a highly disappointing season under Gerardo Martino, finishing trophyless and playing a more direct style of football that has not been well received by their fans, Xavi could now join the likes of Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol in ending his long association with the side.

New manager Luis Enrique is hoping to hold talks with the player after the World Cup, but the former Celta Vigo boss faces a big challenge in his first season with his old club as he is tasked with revamping a squad that is seen as having stagnated somewhat in the last couple of years.
