Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan has said that international strike partner Luis Suarez is “very happy” at Liverpool before dismissing transfer speculation surrounding him as pure speculation, according to Goal.com.

Suarez is likely to miss out on his country’s opening clash against Costa Rica to give him a fighting chance at being available for the game with England next week, and he has been consistently linked with a move to European champions Real Madrid over the summer following an impressive season in front of goal with Liverpool.

The former Ajax star is currently fighting to be at full fitness for the tournament, but Forlan has insisted that talk of him heading to Spain is completely idle.

“Luis Suarez is much better,” he told reporters in regards to his knee injury.

“He is taking steps to recover well and hopefully he recovers well and will be ready to play.

“Suarez is very happy at Liverpool. All you hear are rumours for now. If at any time he signs for Real Madrid, I will talk about it then.”
