The 25 year old wide-man had an excellent season last term, playing a pivotal role in Everton’s push for a top four finish, but having seen his Toffees side pipped by Arsenal for a Champions League berth the Goodison Park star may be considering his options this summer.

Coleman moved to Merseyside in a £60k deal in January 2009 and has proven a huge bargain buy and Arsenal will table an offer of £12m as well as making former Everton man Mikel Arteta as part of the deal.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez may be open to such a move as he could well do with an experienced central midfielder in his side following Gareth Barry’s excellent season on loan at the club last term.

Arteta has just a year to run on his current Arsenal deal and could well be surplus to requirements, hence Wenger’s willingness to use the Spaniard as bait in pursuit of Coleman.

Coleman could be the ideal man to replace Sagna, the Irishman being solid in defence and a real danger in the final third, the Everton man is very much a Wenger-style player withe wing-back being comfortable on the ball with an attacking mentality.
