Real step up interest in Man United wonderkid.

Real Madrid could be set to stun Manchester United with a big-money bid for teenage midfield sensation Adnan Januzaj, CaughtOffside understands.

The Spanish giants could make an opening offer in the region of £34m in their attempts to land the supremely talented young Belgian international, who made a real impression upon his breakthrough to the first-team at United in the 2013/14 season.

It seems unlikely that the Red Devils will consider accepting the bid at this stage, though Real hope that it will signal a statement of intent in their long-term pursuit of the player, who may look to leave the Premier League club in the future, particularly if they once again fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Januzaj was one of the only real success stories for United under David Moyes this season, as he made 35 appearances in all competitions, weighing in with four goals and three assists and generally wowing the Old Trafford faithful with his silky skills and intelligent play.

The likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have all shown an interest in the 19-year-old in recent times, but United looked to have secured his future at the club by tying him down to a long-term contract earlier in the season.

Still, interest in securing his signature has not died down as his reputation continues to grow, and Real Madrid have a good track record of spending whatever money is required to bring in the players they want, spending a then-world record £80m to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo from United back in 2009.

Real are also in need of some signings in the attacking midfield department, with Mesut Ozil leaving the club for Arsenal last summer and Angel Di Maria possibly set to follow this year, leaving manager Carlo Ancelotti short of options in attack.

Januzaj can fill in a number of roles, playing on both flanks and centrally for United this term, and his style of play would surely make him a hit at the Bernabeu alongside the club’s other world class performers.

It is not yet clear if Real will be willing to bid higher for the youngster at this stage, but United will become wary of their interest as Januzaj has clearly become a long-term target of theirs.

New manager Louis van Gaal is thought to be eyeing up other signings in the wide positions this summer, though Januzaj is still likely to be a key player for the Dutchman as the likes of Nani and Ashley Young are far more likely to be the ones that make way.
