Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez may miss the clash with England after all as they are wary of rushing him back too soon following a knee injury, according to the Daily Mail.

It is thought that should they hand him a start against Costa Rica on Saturday then he will sit out of the meeting with the Three Lions after seeing Chile’s Arturo Vidal struggle to recover from an almost identical knee injury.

Sources in Uruguay are already claiming that Suarez will start against the Central Americans in a bid clock up three early points and get a march on both England and Italy, who have been widely tipped to draw in their game.

And only if they failed to take three points this weekend would they feel it necessary to rush Suarez back for what would then be a key clash against Roy Hodgson’s side.

Juventus star Vidal had the exact same operation on a meniscus injury in May, and Uruguay were worried to learn that Vidal’s short cameo against Northern Ireland last weekend ended in disaster as his knee swelled after the game and he now looks increasingly likely to miss out on the whole tournament.
