Liverpool are set to launch a £7m bid to sign Man City defender Micah Richards according to the Daily Star.

The 25 year old, who has spent 11 years at the Etihad Stadium side, already found himself behind rock solid Argentine Pablo Zabaleta in his pursuit of a right-back berth and incoming signing Bacary Sagna would seemingly be a death knell to any hope of a meaningful role under Manuel Pellegrini and as such Brendan Rodgers would do well to land the England man.

Richards can of course play at centre-back but his chances in that regard are even more slim at Man City and having made just two Premier League starts in 2013/14 it would make a great deal of sense for the Birmingham born bit-part player to look for pastures new.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will offer £7m for Richards who may feel confident of fighting Glen Johnson and John Flanagan for a spot in the Merseyside outfit’s starting eleven and the chance of Champions League action is likely to trump apparent offers from Hull City and West Ham.
