Benfica targeting United swoop.
Benfica are reportedly plotting a move to bring in Manchester United winger Nani as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Lazar Markovic, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Portuguese giants are looking increasingly likely to lose promising Serbian winger Markovic to Liverpool this summer, with the youngster keen to make a £25m move to Anfield ahead of next season.
The 20-year-old was linked with a number of Premier League clubs last summer before making the move to Lisbon, but is high in demand again this year after a highly impressive first season at the club.
His departure now looks like seeing Benfica make a move for Old Trafford misfit Nani, who has fallen out of favour after badly struggling for form for the last two seasons.
The 27-year-old barely featured for United in 2013/14 and is seemingly not in the plans of new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal as he sets his sights on some big-name midfield signings in order to help the club improve on their disastrous seventh place finish this term.
Nani has also been linked with the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid in recent times, but could welcome the chance to return to his native Portugal after looking unsettled with life in the Premier League.
