Redknapp will look for Premier League experience as he sets about improving his squad having made an instant return to the top tier, albeit via the play-offs.

Carrick had an average campaign last term and incoming boss Louis van Gaal may well be ready to freshen up his midfield and with veterans Nemanja Vidic, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand leaving the club the 32 year old England man may be open to a fresh challenge if he feels his first team chances may be limited under new management.

Michael Carrick moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2006 and has made a total of 359 appearances for Man United, helping the club to five Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph among a host of honours.
