Tottenham Hotspur could be set to make a £9m bid for Fiorentina and former Manchester City centre-back Stefan Savic, according to Football Express News.

The north London giants are keen to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer after some poor displays at the back in the 2013/14 season, with new manager Mauricio Pochettino also being linked with a raid on his old club Southampton for Croatian stopper Dejan Lovren.

Still, Savic has also caught the eye after a strong couple of seasons in Serie A, where he has regained his best form after largely disappointing during his single season in the Premier League with City, though he did form part of their 2011/12 title-winning squad.

Initially an exciting prospect when signed by City from Partizan Belgrade, Savic now looks like achieving his full potential after improving greatly with Fiorentina, who are supposedly under pressure to bring in some money from player sales this summer.

This could see Tottenham up their interest in the Montenegro international, who could be something of a bargain for £9m if Pochettino can succeed in bringing him to White Hart Lane.

Fiorentina may still profit from the sale of star winger Juan Cuadrado, who is being linked with a host of top clubs, and may then be able to keep Savic and even offer him a new deal.
